Looking Inward

By Kristin Sanderson

Following their outward focus studying the natural world beyond the classroom window, this week the Miquon Kindergartners began turning their focus inward–by starting work creating books about themselves. Teachers Toni and Sherry guided the students in answering the questions about each child’s uniqueness: name, hair color, eye color, age, date of birth, and what they like to do on their birthday. Children represented their answers by practicing writing letters and numbers, and also, through colorful drawings. Over the coming weeks, each child will create a book entitled, All About Me, a compilation of writing and illustrations that demonstrate each child’s reflections about her or himself.
