4.30 Art and Science Show

Art and Science Show
Art Room and Moore Building
Tuesday, April 30, 5:30 – 7:00 pm

This event is a celebration of our students’ thoughtful efforts in the fields of art, science, and engineering.

Regarding the Science Portion of the Fair

Nursery through Sixth Grade students are invited to share an experiment, project, or invention with the community in the Moore Building. This could be something that they worked on in school or at home. Each piece should be accompanied by a Submission Form that explains the work and will be displayed next to it.

Innovation and inventing were a large part of the curriculum for the Third and Fourth Grade groups this year, but many other students are also planning to develop their own creations to share at the show. If you’d like some tips on how to help your young inventor, please see the attachment, Supporting Our Inventors.

Projects can be brought into school on Mon, Apr 29 and should be taken home on Tues, Apr 30 after the exhibition.

Personal projects are optional for Nursery through Fourth Grade students, though all are encouraged to contribute!

Special Notice for Fifth and Sixth Grade

This year, we are changing the science portion of the show for 5th and 6th graders to make it more interactive for the community.  Instead of 5th and 6th graders sharing the results of the experiments that they have been designing and implementing, we will continue to gather data during the show (for those experiments that lend themselves to this type of format) and share the results the following week in Miquon Matters.  (This idea came from a former student when we were reflecting on how to improve the science show experience.)

We realize that not all families can attend the evening.  However, if your child will be attending the evening, it would be VERY helpful if they could share their work with the community by continuing to gather data during these times:

  • Louis and Jeri’s group: Be in the Moore building conducting experiments between 5:45-6:15.
  • Diane and Sarah’s group: Be in the Moore building conducting experiments between 6:00-6:30.

Guests do not need to do anything special during these times except enjoy the art, science, and participate in experiments.

Contact Kate or Arielle with any questions. We’re excited to see what our children create and hope to see you there!
