Last Friday, the Kindergarten hosted a lovely market day as a part of their study of the lives of children in the countries in West Africa — it was songs, games, and food for all! Check out (and download!) the pictures!!

Read Nursery teacher Marisa Campbell’s blog on using the methods Vivian Gussin Paley right here in the Miquon Nursery, and you’ll learn how the children have been acting out stories–a “natural method for concentration and continuity and satisfies the intuitive belief in hidden meanings.”

For the remainder of the year, children will be swimming in the pool during their regular PE period. Children will be in the shallow end of the pool unless they pass a deep water test with Lisa. (Alternate activities are also available poolside.)

On days your child has PE, please send him/her in with a bathing suit, a towel, footwear for walking back from the pool, goggles if you child uses them, a bag to hold it all. Thanks!

Do a full body scan on your child daily and teach her or him how to check independently at school. Your family might also consider additional precautions, including:

  • Having your child wear long pants with socks that can be pulled up over the pants; and
  • Treating your child’s clothes and shoes. Use the link below to learn about a DIY method for clothing.
