Mia Rosenthal
2nd Grade Associate Teacher
BFA Parsons School of Design (The New School)

My first visit to Miquon was for a spring Open House in 2015. I was in search of a kindergarten for my son, and was immediately charmed by the idyllic setting and creative energy in the classrooms.
My son has since graduated and my daughter is a current 4th grader.
Over the past three years I have been a substitute teacher at Miquon, including long-term assignments in Art, Spanish, and 3rd / 4th grade. I appreciate the value Miquon places on developing independence, creative thinking, and problem solving skills, as well as the emphasis on outdoor play and learning in all seasons.
I have been an artist and educator for over 20 years, including as a Foundations Adjunct Professor at Parsons School of Design (The New School) and Temple University (Tyler School of Arts). I have been an artist in residence at Feltonville Middle School, Frieri Charter School, and New Courtland Germantown Home in Philadelphia.
I am passionate about drawing and challenging students to develop their own skills in observation and visual communication. I am actively engaged in my artistic practice and have drawings in a number of public collections, including The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and RISD Museum.
