Reem Rosenhaj
I am a Miquon alumna and am thrilled to be here as a teacher.
Before coming to Miquon, I taught 4th and 5th grade at The Philadelphia School, and was a Teaching Associate in a 2nd grade classroom at Greene Street Friends School. I hold a B.A. in Creative Writing from Bryn Mawr College and am working toward a Masters in Elementary Education at Goddard College.
Outside of my teaching life, I am a community organizer in the prison justice movement in Philadelphia. I see the classroom as a space where we have the unique opportunity, in the words of education theorist Carla Shalaby, to “teach love and learn freedom.”
As a child, Miquon was the place where I learned what it means to take responsibility for my community, the environment, and the world. As a teacher, I am dedicated to facilitating classroom environments where children are co-creators of their learning and their community.
