I believe that a high quality education is one where children are actively constructing meaning in interdependent and personally significant ways.
I am excited to join Miquon’s community of learners as a 5th/6th grade teacher. I bring with me progressive, traditional, special and general education experiences across four states.
I earned my masters at Bank Street College of Education in special and general education. Since, I have sought to empower curiosity-in-action within students of diverse learning and cultural backgrounds. Learning is best done in ways that spark and sustain a passion for bettering ourselves and the world. As a non-binary educator, I aspire to model Miquon’s firm commitment to peacemaking and inclusivity in and outside of the classroom.
I spend my summers teaching at a migrant education program in DownEast Maine, supporting Mi’kmaq and Passamaquoddy families as they complete their annual blueberry harvest. When I am not teaching I can be found singing folk songs, riding my bike, searching for medicinal plants, spying migratory birds, and poorly following cooking recipes. I am enthralled by Miquon’s philosophy and campus and cannot wait to begin learning together.
