I am thrilled to be teaching at Miquon! I grew up in Mount Airy and have memories of swimming in the pool, looking for crawfish in the creek, and making up songs with friends as a camper at Miquon Day Camp in the summers.

After about ten years of teaching third grade, I am excited to be working with the 5th/6th Grade teaching team in fostering the wonder and growth of the oldest students at Miquon. I’m looking forward to being part of a community where children have real freedom; freedom to be their full selves, freedom to pursue their own interests, and freedom to explore outside.

I originally came to classroom teaching with a background in environmental and farm-based education and can’t wait to find ways to incorporate Miquon’s unique campus into the curriculum. I am passionate about facilitating the work of building a community of trust and care with students, and practicing the skills of decision-making and conflict resolution along the way. I love to see students take ownership of the classroom and collective projects, as well as their own learning.
