Writing and Sharing Biographies

By Kristin Sanderson

This week the second and third grade groups combined to host a celebration of their recent biography work. Wednesday’s publishing party, held in the Moore Building, drew many parents (and siblings!) who came to support their children, read and comment on classmates’ stories, and even listen to some works read aloud–featuring the likes of California’s first openly gay elected public official, Harvey Milk, and Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla. Children shared their discoveries from their research (“he inspired me by becoming the first black President”) and some even dressed in costume, honoring their biography subjects.
