How to Apply
1. Request a brochure
Please complete the admission inquiry form to let us know that you are interested in discovering more about Miquon. A packet of printed materials including a color brochure and supplementary information will be mailed to you. If you have specific questions at this stage you should contact the Director of Admissions.
2. Parents/Guardians visit Miquon
We ask you to visit Miquon before deciding to apply for your child’s admission. The ideal time to visit is during the fall of the year before entry.
3. Submit application
To initiate the admissions process families need to submit an application.
Applications are due December 8, 2017.*
*To be notified by February 1, 2018, families must submit an application by December 8. After the deadline, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the spring as long as space is available; please ask the Director of Admissions about availability.
4. Parent/Guardian meeting
After you have submitted your application, please set up a meeting with the Director of Admissions. This meeting can be coordinated with your individual tour of the school. The conversation is an important part of the admissions process and should be accomplished before the child’s visit.
5. Child visits Miquon
- Nursery candidate visits are arranged individually or in small groups in January. One parent remains with the child in the Nursery classroom for 1½ – 2 hours.
- Kindergarten candidates are invited in groups to a morning Play Day in December or January.
Older children visit individually in a classroom with their current grade starting in December.
- 1st grade applicants visit for a morning, 2nd grade applicants for one day.
- 3rd, 4th and 5th grade applicants for two consecutive days.
Observation and age-appropriate screening for skills are conducted during the visits.
Outside testing is not usually required, but if it already has been conducted, we ask to see the reports.
You are notified of the outcome of your application on or around February 1, or within about a week of the child’s visit. Occasionally it is necessary to arrange a second visit or to gather additional information before a decision is made.
7. Acceptance and enrollment
Enrollment Contracts are typically mailed with the letter of acceptance. A signed contract and non-refundable deposit of $750 are required to hold a place for the applicant. By common agreement with other area schools, candidates for Kindergarten and older grade levels who receive offers in early February have until March 1 to make their decision.
8. Applying for financial aid
Applications for admission are considered independently of the financial aid application process, and a decision about admission is made without regard to a candidate’s need for financial support. In order to receive an offer of financial aid by mid-February, families must meet the financial aid application deadline of January 12, 2018.
