Jan Goldberg

3rd/4th Grade Teacher

I am thrilled to be at Miquon, a school that considers the outdoor classroom to be just as important as the indoor classroom.

After teaching at a forest school in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park for several years, I returned to my hometown of Philadelphia in 2022 with my family. I discovered Miquon while searching for a school where I could connect my passion for natural history with my commitment to a place-based progressive education. In my work with children, I aim to inspire a feeling of being a part of something bigger, the importance of the human community, and our place in the natural world.

I received my MS in Environmental Education at Southern Oregon University, and my BA in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. I’ve taken courses in bird taxidermy and performed as a juggler. When I’m not at school, you’ll find me biking, playing in the woods with my kids, baking, birding, and cuddling up with a good book and Peppermint, my cat.
