Mira Saxe-Smith

5th/6th Grade Teacher

As a Miquon alum, I cherish countless memories–traipsing through the bamboo forest, studying crayfish in the creek, writing Haiku poems in the woods, and the pure magic of library read-alouds. I still vividly recall the sense of belonging at Miquon and feeling so known by the community around me. Also, the feeling of wanting to be at school every day!

Fast forward many years: I received my BA from Muhlenberg College, I have had the opportunity to study Cultural Anthropology in Nepal, to work on organic farms across Alaska, to teach fifth grade and special education at Wissahickon Charter School, and now to return to Miquon as a member of the teaching staff! I am thrilled to be back at the school that shaped so much of who I am today, and can’t wait to rediscover the magic of Miquon as a teacher.
